Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica)

2017_TAM_0888_D500.jpg@ Akurey Island, Reykjavik, Iceland

July 2017

Usually the winged subjects I photograph are of the aluminum variety, but we had an opportunity to see puffins in Iceland.  Only about a half-mile out of Reykjavik harbor is Akurey Island, an uninhabited island where a colony of these small seabirds nest.  Iceland is home to 60% of the world’s Atlantic puffins.  Nikon D500 w/18-200 mm, processed with Aperture.
